How to get to the top of search engines?

Back

If you have your own business with an online store or at least a basic website, you must’ve heard of SEO (search engine optimisation) by now.

It is also very likely that you’ve already started working on improving SEO, either by yourself or with the help of an agency.

There is also a high probability that:

  • Your positions on Google are stagnating or not increasing as fast as you would like. You may have improved on some, but on others not at all;
  • Your competitors are always in front of you on the most important keywords;
  • You pay an agency a monthly SEO fee, but you don’t even know what you’re getting in return;
  • You’ve already worked out the basic on-site SEO, but still have not reached the first page of the search engines;
  • You regularly create SEO content for your blog, but nothing helps.

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. These are problems that our customers tell us about again and again. Your problem is that you are NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR SEO or at least not to a sufficient extent.

Have you already guessed what we’re talking about?

Before we reveal the answer, let’s get back to basics. SEO optimization is divided into two main categories.

1. On-Site SEO

On-site SEO is optimization that is performed directly on your website. This means that we edit the content of your website or store according to Google guidelines and best practices.

First, we conduct a keyword research which is the basis for creating the structure of the website. In the next step, we check (and correct if necessary) all metadata on the subpages (URL, page title, image descriptions, etc.) and ensure appropriate content and frequency of occurrence of keywords. We also edit internal links, check page loading speed and take other important steps.

We do all of the above according to Google’s best practices.

When the basics are sorted out, which is very important, we move on to off-site SEO, which is nowadays the most important factor in SEO optimization!

2. Off-site SEO

What is off-site SEO? Off-site SEO involves building backlinks from other websites that lead back to your website.

What does it mean?

Here’s an example: when a website with a lot of traffic (that is also highly ranked in Google’s eyes), such as Svet24.si, writes an article about you that contains a link (backlink) to your website, this page transfers a part of its “SEO power” to your website. This is a signal for Google to rank you higher for keywords that are important to you.

Our experience and the experience of leading SEO experts at the global level show that this process, called off-site SEO, is crucial for the successful ranking of websites on Google.

But beware!

Not all backlinks are created equal. The most important thing is that they come from strong websites, so you need to be smart when choosing the websites that you’ll use to provide backlinks to your website.

What does this mean for you?

Slovenian SEO agencies and experts obtain backlinks in various ways, often through their own (low-quality) networks (also called private blog networks – PBN).

These links are much weaker than the ones Google really wants to see and as a result they have less SEO power to raise your positions on Google.

So what kind of SEO backlinks is Google looking for? It wants links from strong websites with a lot of traffic, such as online news and other popular portals. You could call them “digital PR”.

Even Google’s own SEO guru John Mueller confirmed this on Twitter:

IF YOU WANT TO REACH THE TOP POSITIONS ON GOOGLE, YOU NEED AS MANY STRONG BACK LINKS AS POSSIBLE!

How can you get them?

  • One method is to invest heavily in digital PR so that everyone is writing about you. However, this option is prohibitively expensive for most small businesses.
  • Another method is to pay the media to write about you. This is called paid PR, which is also very expensive for medium and small businesses.
  • The third method is to choose a SEO agency that has access to such a network and builds backlinks for you on high-quality websites.

At Kokos Agency, we build backlinks exclusively on powerful media!

An example of the power of a backlink from a partner medium with excellent Domain Authority – 54 points out of 100.

A similar link from a random PBN portal used by other agencies only gets 16 points out of 100.

*Power ratings are based on the MOZ tool.

To build quality backlinks, you need to primarily use portals that have a Domain Authority of 40 or more.
